Palo santo (Bursera graveolens) comes from the same botanical family as frankincense. It is mainly found in South America.

Palo Santo literally means “holy tree” and, like white sage, it originates from the indigenous peoples of South America. Centuries ago, they used it in ceremonies to cleanse the aura and get rid of negative influences.

Known as a spiritual oil, Palo Santo was traditionally used by the Incas to cleanse the mind and release negative energies.

The scent can be described as a warm, earthy and light aroma with a sweet undertone that sometimes comes through. Compared to white sage (which is also used for the same purpose), Palo Santo gives off a very mild scent.

NB: Our essential oils are not suitable for internal use.
